Why address this now?

Customers don't ask about feelings. They ask for numbers.

"Eco-friendly", "sustainable", "green" – these words are no longer accepted without proof by customers and regulators. Concrete numbers are the only answer that holds up.

If I could tell customers exactly how much CO₂ our t-shirt costs, that would be the only real argument.

Customers & media

B2C customers, journalists and influencers want verifiable evidence. Vague sustainability claims are now more of a risk than an advantage.

B2B buyers and retailers

Major retail chains, the Zalando platform and fashion groups are beginning to require proof of environmental impact from their suppliers.

ESPR legislation (2027)

EU regulation explicitly references the PEFCR methodology. Brands that start now will avoid implementation rush and penalties for non-compliance.

How it works

Three steps to results

You don't need an LCA consultant or months of preparation. The system does the heavy lifting for you.

01
Enter available data

Material composition, weight, product type, material origin. The AI module pre-fills missing values from the EF 3.1 database – you don't start from scratch.

< 3 minutes
02
The system calculates the impact

The calculation engine applies PEFCR A&F rules across all 5 lifecycle phases. The result includes CO₂ footprint, water consumption and Data Quality Rating.

03
Get results in the platform

A clear dashboard with a breakdown by lifecycle phase, audit trail for every number and clear data quality labelling. Results are part of your DPP.

Methodology

We calculate by rules, not estimates

We use Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR) for apparel and footwear – the official European Commission methodology referenced by the ESPR regulation itself.

Harmonised EU methodologyA unified approach recognised across the entire European Union
Specific rules for apparel and footwearPEFCR Apparel & Footwear – the precise methodology for your segment
200+ materials in the databaseMapped to UUID in Environmental Footprint Database 3.1
Data Quality Hierarchy (DQR)Every field has a quality score – you know exactly how reliable the numbers are

Verified by an independent third party

The calculation methodology and logic of our system was reviewed by independent experts from a specialist environmental assessment firm. Their review confirmed the correctness of the approach and compliance with currently available ESPR regulation drafts.

This is not a given. Most available tools have never published their methodology or undergone independent verification.

Calculation Accuracy

Start with what you have. Refine gradually.

Even the basic level meets ESPR legislative requirements. As more data from your supply chain becomes available, accuracy improves automatically.

LevelYou UseSystemAccuracyGood For
BasicComposition + weight + product typeAverages for given material and region±30-40%Quick start, indicative numbers
Standard+ Country of origin + process typesRegional data + process specifications±20-25%Compliance, regular communication
Advanced+ Specific supplier dataPrimary data from your chain±10-15%Premium brands, detailed reports

All levels meet ESPR legislative requirements. The PEFCR methodology explicitly accounts for data hierarchy.

Frequently asked questions

Before you start

No. The system works with incomplete data – missing values are automatically filled from the PEFCR average database for the given material category and production region. Every substitution is transparently labelled, so you always know what comes from your data and what from standard values.
Yes. We calculate precisely according to the PEFCR Apparel & Footwear methodology referenced by the ESPR regulation. The methodology was reviewed by independent firm EnviTrail. The output meets requirements for legislative compliance and customer communication.
Access to the platform and the ability to create a complete DPP for 3 products – including CO₂ footprint calculation, water consumption, Data Quality Rating and a breakdown across 5 lifecycle phases.
The environmental footprint calculation is part of the full cyrcID platform – it is not a separate service. With the DPP you also get product data management, a QR code for customers, circular flows and ESPR readiness.
The platform suggests which values can be refined with primary data from your supply chain. Each improvement raises the DQR score and reduces the uncertainty interval of the calculation.
Data is isolated at the customer level with role-based access control. Sensitive information remains private – in the DPP the customer sees only the resulting values, not the source data.
